The Rubs are like a late 80s John Carpenter movie. They're like El Charro at 2 AM. Or Val Kilmer as Madmartigan in Willow. They're totally sweet, you just need a close friend to get drunk and really let you in on all of the nuances of their greatness. Reigning from Chicago, The Rubs are made up of former members of Altgeld Forgotten, Orefisaurus, Last Alliance, and Mike. After their first show at the Gallery Cabaret on New Years Eve 2008, the guys set their sights on recording their debut album, and playing as many shows as possible. It's hard to practice and play shows though when one member works weekends as a retail employee and another member is out of town all week as a union organizer. But it ain't no thing. The Rubs work that shit out. And their debut album should be out in May or June. Clocking in at just over four or five months to record it. Jesus balls. The Rubs is not a masturbation reference. If anything, it's a Shakespeare reference. Which may make us nerds. But better nerds than puds I always say.
